Never let what you've avoided doing before be a barrier to action today

I spend a lot of time helping people face things they have wanted to do for years - but haven’t done. I want to encourage you to give yourself permission to start fresh and try again. Don’t let past avoidance be an excuse to avoid more. There are quite a few things that I meant to do for years, thought about doing, but hadn’t gotten around to doing. At another point in time, I suddenly felt ready, saw a window of opportunity, and took the plunge. Some amazing things have happened when I came back to my intention and took a small step. Breaking through inertia is the hardest part.

There are plenty of examples of projects that people tend to avoid, even though a deeper part of themselves can’t let it go. You may have something around the house that needs fixing, something you have wanted to buy, or a class you want to take. I recently got a bump on my arm removed that I had sort of wanted to deal with for years. It just never hit the top of the priority list. I also didn’t know exactly how to face it.

So, ask yourself what the first step might be if you were to tune into that inner drive to deal with the unfinished. We usually get stuck because we are vague about the details - what exactly needs to happen. Smart people tend to overthink things, too.

Let me know if you surprise yourself and come back to your desires, and make progress on something important to you.
